The Obama Healthcare Ruling: America’s Second Townshend Acts

June 29, 2012

” The arrogant encroachments of the Townshend Acts immediately rekindled American resistance to British oppression.” — Prof. Murray N. Rothbard, “Conceived in Liberty, Vol. 3”

President Obama and his Democrats have sown the seeds for their own political destruction, as these millionaires pass their mandates on an increasingly terrified and angry populace. The Supreme Court Obamacare ruling will be their Achilles heel, and, from now on, they will face ever increasing difficulties, for they have mobilized a massive resistance to their re-election with this ruling, and literally millions of Americans are now wondering where they are going to get the extra after-tax money to pay these huge monthly premiums on policies with huge deductibles that afford little protection. The blood-pressure levels in America must have risen exponentially overnight as a new dose of Obama-worry shortens her inhabitant’s lifespans. More worries for the businessman, and more worries for the worker who might now be laid off. Yet unseen are the worries of the unemployed worker who now will not get hired because of the new insurance costs for the small businessman. The lowered employment this act will lead to will not be measured or reported statistically, but it will show up when the “experts” are once again surprised at why the unemployment rate stays stubbornly high. They will not mention Obamacare.

But all this uncertainly will lead to one effect: millions of Americans who were not affected by the individual mandate and its ensuing tax penalty, and who were comparatively indifferent to whether Obama or Romney or Johnson got elected, will now be passionately concerned who the next President will be because it will mean the difference between paying a huge monthly extortion to a private insurance company, or paying a huge monthly extortion to the federal government, or paying no extortion at all. These people will suddenly have a great incentive to vote for Romney, since a vote for him will now be equated with a vote against Obamacare and the mandate-tax. These independents and “indifferanti” will now become firm Romney supporters just because they are afraid of falling into poverty due to this outrageous impost of the Federal Government, the Obama Administration, and Congress. Voting for Romney will be seen in the same light as the Revolutionary Colonist’s agreeing to their non-importation boycotts of British goods after the heinous imposition of the Townshend Acts by the then-reigning Obama, King George III and his Tories in Parliament. Obama, Pelosi and Reid have sown the political wind, and now they are going to reap, politically speaking, an Arkansaw twister.

All this is probably bad news for Gary Johnson’s campaign. Johnson would also get rid of this obvious start of a deeply Communistic America, run by the corporations and the big-government Dems and Repubs, which is almost all of them. Those considering a principled, ethical, vote for Johnson, to avoid blood on their hands and soul, may now be stampeded towards Romney out of pure fear of the slaughterhouse. The millionaire lawyers in Congress and the White House, who have made their large fortunes by flapping their lips in Congress, after making small fortunes getting paid for flapping their lips in Government Universities and Colleges, are so out of touch with the anxiety of the slightly upper-middleclass fulltime worker or self-employed that they have no idea what they have just done to themselves.

Not only that. The Medicaid expansion to those States that have embraced Obamacare (usually with Democratic Governors) will give a huge boost to the dis-incentive to work that this provision will create. For those in the $50-60k/yr range, it may pay to drop out entirely, and let Medicaid pay or largely subsidize their premiums, rather than work 8-5, five days a week, just to pay the monthly cash tribute to the Obama-Buffett insurance companies and banks, money that could have been used for sound vegan food to try to preserve their health in this brutal, bureaucratic world that Obama has solidified during his rule. This Medicaid provision may work, much as Rothbard pointed out the Guaranteed Annual Income would work, in killing the incentive to work, so that more and more of the population would drop out, and live on the Guaranteed Annual Income and free medical care provided by the taxes of the fewer and fewer workers, while the deficit spending this would require would continue to degrade and inflate the currency, so that the annual inflation rate would rise as would the annual COLA (cost of living increase), thus forcing the raising of the Guaranteed Annual Income at a faster and faster annual rate, until the currency completely collapsed from hyperinflation. This will occur now that this provision has become law.

The coming end to the Bush tax cuts, the higher cost of hiring with Obamacare, and the huge incentive now for the lower middle-class to drop out — all these will greatly worsen the economy which is already in depression. But Obama and his Queen Pelosis, living in their Washington Irondome, don’t have the economic imaginations to forsee all this. As Hayek pointed out, in all bureaucracies there is a marked tendency for the mediocre to rise to the top. Holder, Pelosi, Reid, Obama, Romney.

Nor has Obama learned anything from Maggie Thatcher. You’d think  politicians would remember the same mistakes that King George III and Thatcher made, but Obama proves that they often don’t. Now, you remember how Mrs. Thatcher was riding high in British politics; the unions had had their testimonials cut off by the Iron Lady; the economy was ebullient; and her popularity was high. And then she threw a spanner in the works: her poll tax.

The poll tax, because it affected every single member of the British populace, suddenly brought home the meaning of taxation to the millions of Britains who didn’t have to pay tax and never dreamed they would. The rage and opposition was immediate, much like the rage and opposition Silverwolf read on the internet yesterday, after this infamous ruling by SCOTUS. Thatcher’s popularity plunged, and the opposition to her rule grew suddenly vociferous. It was the Iron Lady’s downfall.

Now Obama and his girls in Congress have rammed through this outrageous depredation on the economic security of millions of Americans, and made it a life-or-death issue for every American while throwing millions into economic insecurity overnight, they are going to face the concerted might of an incensed huge majority. It’s 1768 all over again.

Libertarianism: Individual vs. Corporate

June 22, 2012

Silverwolf believes there is a necessary distinction that needs to be made when one bandies about the term “Libertarian”; a distinction that is often blurred over. There are two views of Libertarianism: the Individual view and the corporate view. The Individual view is represented largely by the thought of Ron Paul, who has pointed out that Corporatism fundamentally runs the Federal Government and is the essence of Fascism according to its founder, War Criminal Mussolini, and the corporate view, which is largely represented by the remainder of the Republican Party, which is that Corporations are Individuals. It is the Mises Institute in contrast to the Cato Institute. It is a battle pitting the Individual against the Collective.

One of the necessities in our law that needs correcting, which Ron Paul has also pointed out, is the absurdity of the Supreme Court rulings that place the corporation on the same level as the Individual. This fabricated equality, nowhere present in our Constitution, which is a paean of praise to Individual Rights, must be overturned in Law even if it means impeaching Supreme Court Justices or Chief Justices. Mitt Romney says “Corporations are people.” Ron Paul says, “Individuals are people.”

Now lets examine the “corporation”. First of all, it is a notional concept, not a being in reality. A corporation is not an Individual; it is a Collectivist entity — basically a gang of Capitalists, with special legal advantages and usually lower-than-individual income tax rates, who are ganging up against Individual Capitalists. This Collectivist entity should have no special privileges; nay, on the contrary, it is the Individual who should always come before this Collectivist entity.

Silverwolf sees that the main body of the Republican Party is now, with the Romney nomination in the bag, shifting towards this Corporate Collectivism, and, unfortunately, Gary Johnson too has many Corporate ideas that should be anathema to Individualistic Libertarianism, like school vouchers that will subsidize private school profits, and privatizing prisons, which seems like a green light for prisoner abuse without legal recourse, justified by the usual cost-savings arguments of the Pragmatists, and even a zero income tax for corporations.  Now, Silverwolf opposes the Individual income tax and the Estate and inheritance taxes, both Federal and State, based on the Constitutionally guaranteed Rights, but he sees nothing in the Constitution that forbids the taxation of a Collectivist entity known as the Corporation. This income tax could be tailored to exclude small businesses and individuals who want to take advantage of the liability advantages of incorporating, perhaps starting at a $5 million AGI, so that only really large, affluent corporations would be subject to the income tax. Perhaps this tax, in combination with Constitutional limited government would be all that was necessary to fund the Federal Budget, and once the U.S. budget deficit and Federal debt have been erased and effaced from the surface of the earth, then the corporations can also have a zero tax rate, or near zero if there were no other tax sources such as, for example, an excise tax on products from Fascist dictatorships like Red China, Indonesia, and Iran.

Still, despite his shortcomings, Gary Johnson will be the necessary choice for Libertarians and Ron Paul Republicans because voting for Romney or Obama will leave blood on your hands. When voting for evil will mean someone innocent gets murdered, vote for the neutral but moral choice, even if you think it is a sure loser. At least you will not be directly complicit in Immorality. You won’t have blood on your hands, and perhaps that is the most important fact when you’re coming out of the voting booth.

Silverwolf believes that true Libertarianism should always stress the Individual, which is a Reality, and not the Corporation, which is a notional nothingness masquerading as an Individual Reality. The Republicans and Democrats will constantly try to blur this distinction, as will those “Cato” Libertarians who are gung-ho on the Corporations. Usually because they own lots of stock in them.

If we are to have collective security, we must defend the Rights of the Individual over and above those of the Collective. This is one of the cornerstones of Libertarianism, without which so-called Corporate Libertarianism would soon be indistinguishable from Fascism, as it is in America where Obama is letting the Corporate frackers destroy thousands of Individual’s properties by ruining their water supplies. This is the quality of Obama’s “environmentalism”, about equal to the quality of the homesteader’s polluted well. Environmentalism and Libertarianism share a common goal: defending the Individual against Property Rights Aggressions from other men or groups of men. The groups of men are often now called “Corporations”.

Face it, it has come down to the Individual and the Earth ranged against the Corporate might of the Democratic and Republican Parties. If Man and Life on Earth are not to perish, the Individual must win out.

Silverwolf’s Jeffersonian Epistle to the Fascist, President Obama

June 10, 2012

In light of the Hitlerian NDAA Bill, signed by the President on December 31, 2011, a day that will live in Infamy, which allows the US Military to arrest and secretly detain in military prisons for an indefinite period any US Citizen without benefit of a lawyer, and in light of the President’s claimed authority to assassinate American Citizens at will on a White House “Kill List”, and in the light of the President’s Murder of another 18 women and children in a NATO air strike in Pakistan, and in light of all the other Human Beings he has Murdered and permanently maimed in his immoral drone strikes in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Yemen, and in light of the President’s denying to the terminally ill in those States which have legalized medical cannabis the use of that medication, which in itself is another form of premeditated Murder, Silverwolf addresses the following Jeffersonian epistle to the President:

Sire,

No longer persevere in sacrificing the Rights of One Individual to the inordinate desires of the Executive Branch, but deal out to all equal and impartial Right.

Let no act be passed by Executive Order that may infringe on the Rights and Liberties of the Individual, but deal out to all equal and impartial Right.

These are our grievences, which we have thus laid before Your Majesty with that freedom of language and sentiment which becomes a free people, claiming their Rights derived from the Laws of Nature, and not as the gift of their chief executive.

Let those flatter who fear. It is not an American art.

Presidents are the servants, not the proprietors of the People. Open your breast, Sire, to Libertarian and expanded thought. Let not the name of Barack Obama be a blot on the page of History. It behooves you  to think and act for yourself and your People. The whole Art of Government consists in the art of being Honest.

We are willing, on our part, to sacrifice everything which Reason can ask to restore tranquillity. On your part, be willing to restore the Bill of Rights on a generous plan.

The G-d who gave us Life, gave us Liberty. The hand of Force may destroy, but cannot disjoin them.

This, Sire, is our last, our determined resolution: To vote you out of office.

The Gulag East and West: Two Libertarian Jokes

June 5, 2012

There were three prisoners sitting in their cell in Stalin’s Communist Gulag. To pass the time, they asked each other why they were there.

“I always got to work late”, the first prisoner said, “so they accused me of parasitism.”

The second prisoner explained, “I always got to work early, so they accused me of brownnosing to gain favors.”

The third prisoner went on, “I always got to work exactly on time, so they accused me of owning a Western watch.”

While this was going on, there were three prisoners sitting in the Obama Gulag for Anti-trust Capitalists in Northern Maine. They got talking and asked each other what they’d been accused of.

The first said, “I charged above the average market price, so the Feds accused me of price-gouging.”

The second prisoner explained, “I charged below the market price, so they charged me with cut-throat competition and unfair trade practices.

The last prisoner went on, “I charged exactly the same as everybody else, so they charged me with collusion and price-fixing.”

Under Communism, anyone they want to make guilty, they can make guilty.
